chapter viii

[2026]

an inflatable expands beyond the capacity of the space it occupies. its surface stretches, distorts and eventually collapses, only to expand again. each cycle reveals the tension between internal force and external constraint.

chapter viii originates from this repeated negotiation between volume and spatial limitation. the inflatable becomes a physical manifestation of pressure; a condition of accumulated force, resistance and eventual release.

this investigation extends into sculptural objects for the body, constructed from reclaimed metal; cast, hand-textured and silver-plated. cracks, fissures and irregular surfaces become material expressions of pressure, translating an intangible force into something physical and permanent.

the process was documented in collaboration with pranoy sarkar through a series of polaroids, preserving transient states of expansion and collapse.
